another easy/rest day

Today I took another very easy day, running just 2 miles at a 11:00 minute/mile pace. It amazes me that a year and a half ago it was hard for me to run 2 miles at that pace. I was just getting back into running after about 6 months off.

I bought Matt Fitzgerald's new book, The New Rules of Marathon and Half-Marathon Nutrition. I listened to an interview with him on the Runner Academy podcast and I really liked his approach. I've read about 40 pages so far today and he doesn't just tell you what you should be doing, but he has a very easy to understand explanation about why he takes the approach he does, which includes addressing other approaches (high-carb vs low-carb, burning glycogen vs burning fat) and talking about the pros and cons, what situations they might be more useful in, and discussing studies and runners' experiences.
