so I don't do New Years Resolutions or aything like that...

...but I am still running and I want to get back to documenting it, even if it is only for myself. The best part about the new year is my new future running partner, a yellow lab puppy named Digger. Logan named him, and his love for big trucks and machinery came through with his top name picks: Garbage Truck, Excavator, and Digger. He's 7 weeks old and already chewing  on my running shoes, so I think we'll have a great time running together when he is older.

I am currently battling some knee/IT issues and some heel pain. The knee and IT issues are mostly resolved, but the heel pain is lingering. The PT originally thought it was due to the rest of me being all out of whack and thought it would improve as my core/hips/IT got stronger. But while I've been in PT and working on my running form, I've been running in more minimal shoes, and wearing shoes without great support the rest of the day. I've traded in my Brooks Pure Cadence for Brooks Ravenna for all of y runs (for the time being at least) and am wearing a pair of reject-running sneakers (Mizuno Wave Inspire 9s) that I bought to try out because I liked the color but that didn't work for me for running. I have run almost exclusively in Brooks Pure Cadences for the last year, including both marathons and a few dozen 20+ mile runs, so I'm hoping that I can get back into them in a while, since I have three new pair that I picked up on clearance at DSW over the last few months. But ultimately I don't care what is on my feet, I just want to run.

I also renewed my membership at the YMCA so I've been going back to yoga and using the treadmill when the footing outside is too slipery. I hate the treadmill, and avoid it at all costs, but the flat and consistent surface is really beneficial to me right now, so I'm dealing with it the best way that I can. (By watching all of the Twilight Saga movies on my Nook).

I'll update with how I finished off my race season (hint - I'll be registering for Boston 2015!!) and my goals for the upcoming season this week.

In the meantime, enjoy this picture of Digger asleep on my reject-runners. He actually slept like this for almost an hour.
